A time to explore the power of potential and a time to leave behind what is no longer helping you.
The 1st May under the ancient traditions of following the Seasonal Cycle of the Earth is Beltane, marking the midpoint in the Sun’s progress between the spring equinox and summer solstice. It celebrates the Fertility of the Earth and potency of Life Force and Potential.
Traditionally it was the start of the ‘Merry Months’ where folks would dress in green in recognition and honour of the Earth’s new colour, also as time to communicate with natural spirits.
But also it was the time to light the Tein-eigin or ‘Need Fire’, a sacred fire that was lit after all others were put out. The Community would then jump the fire to bring to them and their village FERTILITY, HEALING, TRANSFORMATION as well as a time for honouring unions between friends, couples.
This is a time especially potent for healing.
The green of the earth vibrates with that of the ‘Heart Chakra’ and with love. It is time to honour the love and union of male and female energies within ourselves as well as outwardly.
The union of William to his love Kate at this auspicious time gave us a visual embodiment of these energies coming together for love and celebration and brought together communities in unity, a reflection of the old traditions.
Beltane also marks the peak of the most active earth cycle, where all things are now possible. The earth is full of potential and as such so are you as an inhabitant of this beautful planet. Everywhere life is manifesting and moving outwards into the world and now is the time to look a manifesting in your life.
The fire is traditionally at the centre of Beltane celebrations and is leapt to honour unions but also to leave behind what is no longer helping and serving you. Today maybe you would like to light a small first and (carefully please) jump it saying ‘I choose to leave behind…..’ or a ‘I pledge myself…….’
Or take a wake out into nature, thank it for its many beautiful gifts and hang a ribbon on a tree as you make a wish or blessing.
Now is the time to be clear about your direction and what you will use this growth period for. Celebrate your potential.
